MUSCAT : The exhibition, which will run from August 26 to September 25, is being held at the Oman Across Ages Museum in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

The opening ceremony was graced by H.E. Eng. Ibrahim bin Said Al Kharousi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Heritage. The event aims to promote and showcase the efforts of various private museums and heritage houses, highlighting their role in preserving Omani national heritage and raising awareness about their cultural and economic contributions.

Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Mansouri, Director of the Department of Museums and Private Heritage Houses at the Ministry, revealed that the exhibition features 11 licensed museums, including Bait Al Zubair Museum, Bidiya Museum, Bait Al Ghasham Museum, and others. Additionally, there are 19 licensed private museums and heritage houses, with 20 more applications currently in the process of approval across different governorates.

Dr. Al Mansouri explained that private museums and heritage houses play a crucial role in displaying artifacts related to archaeology, heritage, history, and culture for public education and research. These institutions are vital for preserving the community’s culture and national identity, and they also offer significant opportunities for learning, research, and innovation.

The exhibition showcases how private museums and heritage houses contribute to the museum sector by adhering to high display standards. This includes organizing collections effectively, ensuring safety and security, and using advanced technology to enhance visitor experience.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, in cooperation with relevant authorities, continues to support the establishment of various types of museums. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to protect and promote Oman’s rich cultural heritage, ensuring that it is preserved and appreciated by future generations.
