MUSCAT : The new initiative is aimed at equipping students with essential knowledge and skills related to environmental issues and promote responsible environmental behaviors.
The Authority, in a notice issued online, stated that the new curriculum is in line with Oman Vision 2040, and seeks to enhance students’ understanding of environmental sciences, while promoting responsible behavior towards the environment.
It will be introduced to eleventh graders starting in the 2024-2025 academic year and to twelfth graders beginning in 2025-2026.
The first semester will cover four key units: Environmental Research and Data Collection, Interactions in Marine Ecosystems, Classification and Biodiversity, and Introduction to Interface Administration. The second semester will build on these topics with additional content currently under review.
This initiative continues the environmental education journey that begins in early grades through science textbooks and will now be offered as an elective subject in secondary education.
