Muscat: 196 doctors from various institutions across Oman have embarked on their journey through the Oman Medical Specialty Board’s rigorous training programs for the 2024/2025 academic year. Among them, 60 doctors are fresh from internship programs, now ready to specialize and refine their medical expertise.

Additionally, five doctors have joined the highly esteemed local fellowship programs, focusing on pediatric intensive care at the Royal Hospital, genetic medicine and blood diseases for adults at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, and ear medicine and surgery at Al Nahda Hospital.

Her Excellency Dr Fatima bint Mohammed Al Ajmi, CEO of the OMSB, highlighted the board’s dedication to empowering its trainees with top-tier resources. Dr Fatima emphasized the board’s commitment to providing access to leading international medical libraries, remote learning platforms like the Tebyan Platform, and hands-on training at the state-of-the-art simulation centre.

Raghda Al-Bouali, Acting Director of the Advanced Medical Education Department, echoed this sentiment, urging doctors to excel in their specialized training programs. She highlighted the importance of self-learning, critical thinking, and leadership development in improving the quality of healthcare services across Oman.

To support this new wave of medical professionals, OMSB will hold a series of interactive meetings to integrate the doctors into their academic and training environments. These meetings, scheduled at the OMSB headquarters and accredited training centres across Oman, will connect the new doctors with training program managers, educational committee members, and faculty members, ensuring a smooth transition into their specialized fields.
