MUSCAT : The project, which represents a 7.5 million Omani riyal investment, was developed on a 32,000 square meter site in partnership between Chinese company Wanfang, Al Thabat Holding Company, and Duqm Development Company.

The new market, designed for light and medium industries, features a broad range of offerings, including building materials, electrical appliances, luxury items, and Chinese cars. It is equipped with manufacturing workshops that allow companies to produce their products on-site.

Su Wei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Duqm Materials Market Company and representative of Wanfang in Oman, highlighted the market’s role in enhancing cooperation between China and Oman. He expressed optimism that the market would foster a deeper partnership between the two nations, extending beyond retail to include manufacturing and global exporting.

Ali bin Mohammed Al Lawati, Operations Manager at Duqm Materials Market Company, emphasized the strategic advantages of the market’s location, which is poised to benefit local and international businesses. He noted that the market aims to attract Chinese companies to establish factories and leverage the facilities for storage and direct sales.

Mahmoud Al Jardani, Business Development Manager at Duqm Development Company, described the market as a major retail development within SEZD. He stressed that the market’s proximity to Duqm Port—approximately 10 km—will facilitate efficient import and export activities.

The market features a main exhibition space of 16,000 square meters, a secondary exhibition of 2,500 square meters, four warehouses of 1,200 square meters each, and six workshops totaling 6,700 square meters. It includes essential amenities such as paved streets, parking, multiple entrances and exits, elevators, escalators, and comprehensive security systems, all built to high standards using the Omani-British construction system.
