MUSCAT : Indian School Muladha celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great fervour, immense pride and gratitude. The occasion was graced by the benign presence of the chief guest Dr. Mathew Varghese, President of the School Management Committee. The members of the School Management Committee, grandparents, parents, students, Principal and staff attended the event enthusiastically. The school premises were decorated with tricolour flags, festoons and balloons creating a festive atmosphere.
The celebration commenced at 8:15 a.m. with the prayer song, followed by the National Anthems of the Sultanate of Oman and India. The chief guest was given a guard of honour by the contingents of ISML, consisting of Student Council led by the Head Boy Mohammed Fayiz and Head Girl Sindhu Bipin Paleja. The cultural extravaganza unfolded, showcasing the tapestry of India’s cultural diversity. The dance performance by the middle and primary students showcased the rich cultural tapestry of our nation while fostering a sense of pride and camaraderie among all gathered. A medley of patriotic songs that embrace the rich diversity and unity of India presented by 90 students filled the assembly hall with a nationalistic spirit. Students from classes 3-10 brought to the stage a moving role-play, recalling the tragic massacre of Jallianwala Bagh.
In his address, the chief guest Dr.Mathew Varghese emphasized the significance of independence and the unity in diversity of India. He shared the message of the Honourable President of India, Sreemathi Droupadi Murmu, on the auspicious occasion. Dr. Mathew urged the students to remember the irreplaceable contributions of the freedom fighters and their sacrifices in making the country great.

Principal Dr. Leena Francis expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made the event possible. She encouraged the students to become responsible citizens and to serve the country and its people, spreading the message of universal brotherhood, integrity, and harmony. The importance of imbibing a positive attitude for the success of an individual was also highlighted.
Drenched in the feeling of patriotism, the programmes sparked off love and dedication for the country, in the hearts of the audience and reminded them of the nation’s glorious past. It was the most befitting tribute to the largest democracy of the world.
