MUSCAT : The CAA stated that these diversions are a result of exceptional weather conditions currently affecting the region. The decision to reroute flights is part of the precautionary measures implemented to ensure traveler safety in line with the authority’s systems and regulations.

In its statement, the CAA assured that it is working in coordination with its partners to raise the efficiency of the landing systems at Salalah Airport. The goal is to enhance the airport’s ability to handle flights under similar weather conditions in the future.

However, the CAA emphasized that while improvements will reduce the likelihood of diversions, they cannot entirely eliminate the possibility due to varying weather factors such as low visibility or high wind speeds, similar to what other international airports are exposed to.

The Authority also stressed the need for air carriers to commit to providing appropriate services to passengers whose flights are diverted in such cases and facilitating their arrival to their destinations in accordance with the Passengers’ Rights Regulations.
