Muscat: Mr. Yusuf Nalwala, Chairman of Al Yusr International LLC and former Chairman of the Board of
Directors , Indian Schools in Oman graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by his
son, Mr. Murtaza, Managing Director of Al Yusr International LLC. Other distinguished dignitaries who
witnessed the programme were Shri Kiran Asher, Founder and Group Managing Director of Al Ansari
Group, Mr. Harshendu Shah, former President of the School Management Committee of ISWK, Shri
Rajendra Ved, Executive Director of the school management committees of ISWK and ISWK
Cambridge, Mr. Alkesh Joshi, Assistant Executive Director, Mr. Sachin Toprani, honorary President of
the School Management Committee of ISWK, other distinguished dignitaries of the Education Cell, Mr.
D.N.Rao, Principal , Vice Principals, teachers, parents, students and special invitees.
The programme began with a warm welcome to all attendees. The tone for the day was set with a stirring
reflection on India’s journey from colonial rule to a thriving democracy, by reminding everyone of the
sacrifices made by countless individuals in the fight for India’s freedom. Celebrations were aligned with
the theme of the year, ‘Viksit Bharat,’ the government’s vision of transforming India into a developed
nation by 2047.
The release of tri-coloured balloons was followed by the soulful rendition of the National Anthem by the
senior school Hindustani Choir symbolizing freedom and unity that India cherishes. The March Past
featuring contingents from ISWK and ISWK Cambridge, was a display of discipline and pride,
showcasing the values of leadership and teamwork.
In his address, the Chief Guest Mr. Yusuf Nalwala inspired the gathering with his words of wisdom that
resonated deeply with the audience. He spoke about the importance of education, leadership, and
community service. Furthermore, he emphasized on implementing key reforms in a number of state-of-
the-art institutions. Shri Kiran Asher felicitated the Chief Guest with a memento.
The programme also featured a variety of performances that captured the essence of India’s rich cultural
heritage. The senior school choir’s rendition of “Hamara Pyara Hindustan” was a soul stirring
performance. The Kindergarten and Primary students charmed the audience with their dance moves,
“Hamara Watan, Hamari Shaan”. The primary school choir continued the momentum with their
motivational song, “Badhte Chalo”. The mime performance by the students of ISWK Cambridge titled
“Aadhe Adhoore Sapne,” poignantly depicted the dreams and struggles of ordinary citizens. The
programme concluded with a dynamic dance performance, “Har Ghar Tiranga,” reflecting the vibrancy
and strength of the nation.
At the close of the event, the vote of thanks was delivered, expressing gratitude to all those who
contributed to the success of the celebration. The closing remarks, featuring Rabindranath Tagore’s
timeless poem, “Where the Mind is Without Fear,” served as a powerful reminder of the values that guide
the nation.
The Independence Day celebration at Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir was not just an event but a
heartfelt tribute to the spirit of India. It was a day of reflection, pride, and a renewed commitment to the
ideals of freedom, unity, and progress.
