Muscat: Deadpool & Wolverine delivers on fan service and fixes many of the errors Marvel made when they claimed to bring the Multiverse into action for their fans.
If you ask any Marvel fan about the glory days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), they will tell you that it ended with the Russo Brothers and the Avengers: Endgame. Now, there are exceptions, like Spiderman and the first iteration of Dr Strange, but something has been amiss with the recent Marvel movies. Well, that ended with Deadpool & Wolverine.
Don’t worry, this review won’t serve out spoilers because there are moments that will make you scream with joy. So, to keep things short, since Deadpool is going to be breaking the fourth wall and doing most of the talking, let’s all thank Kevin Feige, Ryan Reynolds and Marvel for finally bringing Wolverine to the MCU and, along with him, a moment to enjoy the nostalgic and dark era of 20th Century Fox.

Yes, Hugh Jackman is back to bring back the character we all loved to see from the X-Men series, and it is as if the adamantium that was injected into his character has kept him young, too. Ryan Reynolds brings back the same enthusiasm and wit that made us all accept that there cannot be another person who can portray Deadpool as accurately as Ryan.
Deadpool, has been sought out by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) to safeguard the Multiverse, a dream that has been the only redeeming thought for him after having lost his sense of purpose. But his excitement doesn’t last long as he will have to watch his world and the people he loves get destroyed, because his world lost its “Anchor Being” when Logan died.
Deadpool, being the way he is, couldn’t accept it and takes on the mission to find the perfect Logan across the Multiverse to restore his world. Director Shawn Levy brings the right amount of fun and insanity with a tight script that could have gone monumentally wrong with a ton of fan-service elements and cameos.
Having safely infused Wolverine back into the MCU using the Multiverse concept and announcing Robert Downey Junior’s return to bring Dr Doom to life in live action in Avengers 2026, Marvel could perhaps be moving in the right direction.
Deadpool & Wolverine has a blast of well-orchestrated action, fun use of CGI that isn’t too overwhelming, and great performances from a stellar cast. Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, and all the cameos you just have to watch to know, were a treat after a slump for Marvel.
“Welcome to the MCU. You’re joining at a bit of a low point,” were the words Deadpool utters as he introduces Wolverine at a pivotal point in the movie. Honestly, it sums up all the excitement Logan brings with this team-up for this rescue mission that has given a lifeline to Marvel. $438.3M worldwide for the opening week and becoming the biggest R-rated opening is enough to get you fired up with this film. Happy watching Bubs!
