MUSCAT : The exhibition, which highlights the evolution of Omani currency, showcases portraits of sultans who influenced the development of modern currency from the reign of Sultan Faisal bin Turki to the present era under His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said.

Opened under the patronage of H.E. Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the exhibition features a diverse array of currency artifacts. These include historical coins from the 19th century, paper notes of the Indian Gulf Rupee, and the sixth paper issue of Omani currency.

Osama bin Mohammed Al Rawas, Director of the Museum, emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing the Dhofar Khareef season with engaging activities. He explained that the exhibition aims to attract visitors and tourists by showcasing rare currencies and exploring the history of Omani coins.
It is worth noting that historical sources confirm that the oldest Islamic mint in the Arabian Peninsula appeared in the Sultanate of Oman.
