Muscat – This figure represents a total weight of approximately 320,568,989 kilograms. This marks an 11.6 percent rise in value compared to RO 98,892,896 and a weight of 306,580,936 kilograms for the same period in 2023, according to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information.

The value of vegetable imports by the end of May 2024 amounted to about 42,653,213 for a total weight of about 146,148,866 kilograms, compared to RO 29,437,524 for a total weight of 139,661,151 kilograms by the end of May 2023, an increase in value of 44.9 percent.

The value of fruit imports by the end of May 2024 amounted to about RO 67,687,056 for a total weight of about 174,420,123 kilograms, compared to RO 69,455,372, for a total weight of 166,919,785 kilograms by the end of May 2023 – a decrease in value of 2.5 percent.

The value of vegetable imports from the United Arab Emirates by the end of May 2024 amounted to about RO 10,973,046, from Yemen, RO 10,860,202, and from India RO 4,659,093.

The value of fruit imports from the United Arab Emirates, by the end of May 2024, amounted to about RO 18,844,717, from Egypt RO 9,491,909, and from India RO 9,275,432.

On the other hand, statistics show that the total value of the Sultanate of Oman’s exports of vegetables and fruits until the end of May 2024 recorded about RO 13,592,096 for a total weight of 59,567,656 kilograms, compared to RO 11,923,406 for a total weight of 49,416,432 kilograms by the end of May 2023.

The value of vegetable exports by the end of May 2024 amounted to about RO 8,941,204 for a total weight of about 37,812,693 kilograms, compared to RO 8,603,617 for a total weight of 40,553,162 kilograms by the end of May 2023 – an increase in value of 3.9 percent.

The value of fruit exports by the end of May 2024 amounted to about RO 4,650,892 for a total weight of about 21,754,963 kilograms, compared to RO 3,319,789 for a total weight of 8,863,270 kilograms by the end of May 2023 – with an increase in value of 40.1 percent.

The value of vegetable exports to the United Arab Emirates by the end of May 2024 amounted to about RO 3,961,228, to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia RO 1,659,630, and to Kuwait, RO 816,574.

The value of fruit exports to the State of Qatar by the end of May 2024 amounted to about RO 1,473,319, to the United Arab Emirates RO 1,094,851, and to Bahrain RO 783,700 Omani riyals.

Statistics show that the total value of re-exports from the Sultanate of Oman of vegetables and fruits recorded until the end of May 2024 about RO 2,441,278 for a total weight of 6,789,391 kilograms, compared to RO 2,133,262 for a total weight of 7,829,318 kilograms by the end of May 2023.

The value of re-exports of vegetables by the end of May 2024 amounted to about Ro 460,369 for a total weight of about 1,612,761 kilograms, compared to RO 569,842 for a total weight of 2,962,667 kilograms by the end of May 2023 – a decrease in value of 19.2 percent.

The value of fruit re-exports by the end of May 2024 amounted to about RO 1,980,909 for a total weight of about 5,176,630 kilograms, compared to RO 1,563,420 for a total weight of 4,866,651 kilograms by the end of May 2023 – an increase in value of 26.7 percent.

The value of re-exporting vegetables to Somalia by the end of May 2024 amounted to RO 76,135, and to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia RO 69,506.

The value of re-exports of fruits to the United Arab Emirates by the end of May 2024 amounted to about RO 396,659, to Kuwait RO 297,301, and to Vietnam RO 267,124.

It is worth noting that the total number of establishments and facilities operating in the retail activity in specialized stores for fresh fruits, vegetables and dates amounted to about 654 establishments until May 2024.
