Oman’s Labour Ministry holds meeting with business owners in Dhofar

The Ministry of Labour held a meeting with business owners in Dhofar Governorate to discuss the challenges of the local labour market.

MUSCAT : During the meeting, H.E. Dr. Mahad bin Said Baouin, Minister of Labour, stressed that the Social Dialogue Committee has accelerated the pace of work, cooperation and true partnership with the three parties of production – the government, employers and workers.



This, in turn, is expected to enhance and develop production in tune with major trends in the global labour market, he noted.

His Excellency pointed out the efforts currently being made by the Ministry to enhance the development of labour market tools, the support it provides to private sector institutions, and the facilities available to establishments. This, he explained, is in addition to the Labour Law and legislations regulating the labour market, which will help achieve stability and keep pace with the progress witnessed by the global market.

He further added that the meeting, initiated as part of the activities of the ‘Together We Work…Together We Innovate and Prosper’ Labour Forum, calls for accelerating the pace of work. “Given the challenges and tremendous progress we are witnessing it serves the interests of the markets and supports human resource,” he stated.

The Minister also stressed the importance of the role of the private sector in Dhofar Governorate, which is growing rapidly, especially in the tourism sector. He highlighted the role of the governorate in strengthening the labour sector and the efforts made by small and medium enterprises and the national cadres working in private sector establishments and companies. He also pointed out the importance of intensifying interest in entrepreneurial projects related to artificial intelligence and innovation and supporting training programs.

The meeting witnessed a discussion on the challenges facing business owners, especially in the small and medium enterprises sector, and how to simplify procedures to benefit from the facilities available to them to establish new projects and mechanisms for developing them. It also covered Omanization of some sectors and ways to develop the local labour market.
