Recent statistics show a notable increase in natural gas production and imports in Oman

Muscat: Oman has reported a significant boost in its natural gas sector, with total production and imports hitting around 27.6 billion cubic meters by mid-2024. This represents a 5.3% increase from the 26.2 billion cubic meters recorded during the same period in 2023.

Data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information reveal that industrial projects are the largest consumers of natural gas, utilizing 64.3% of the total supply, equating to 17.7 billion cubic meters. The breakdown of natural gas usage includes 5.4 billion cubic meters for oil fields, 4.3 billion cubic meters for power generation stations, and 124 million cubic meters for industrial areas.

In terms of production, non-associated natural gas—including imports—totalled 22 billion cubic meters, while associated natural gas production stood at 5.6 billion cubic meters.
