Know your rights: Oman’s Labour Law guarantees 30 days annual leave

The Ministry of Labour has issued a notice to highlight the provisions related to annual leave for workers in Oman.

Muscat – According to the Labour Law, employees are entitled to a minimum of 30 days of annual leave after completing six months of continuous service.
The Ministry notice specifies the following:

  • The worker can only benefit from the annual leave after completing six (6) months of employment.
  • The employer may postpone the worker’s annual leave for no more than six (6) months.
  • In case the worker does not benefit from the annual leave, he/she is entitled to retain the leave balance up to a maximum of thirty (30) days, unless the failure to benefit from the leave is due to the interests of the work.
