PARIS: India has triumphed in the men’s hockey bronze medal match at the Paris Olympics 2024, defeating Spain 2-1 at Stade Yves-du-Manoir. The victory marks India’s second consecutive bronze medal in Olympic hockey, following their third-place finish in Tokyo three years ago.

The pivotal moment came when Harmanpreet Singh scored the decisive goal, converting his second penalty corner of the match. His crucial strike turned the game in India’s favour, coming after Marc Miralles initially gave Spain a narrow lead with a penalty stroke in the second quarter.

This match also holds special significance as it marks the final international appearance of Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh. The team was determined to give him a memorable send-off, especially after their painful semifinal loss to Germany.
