Oman collaborates and works towards strengthening food security

QATAR: Oman participated in a pivotal workshop on enhancing food security across GCC countries. Held in Qatar and in collaboration with the Gulf Cooperation Council’s General Secretariat, the session addressed critical aspects of the region’s food security landscape.

The workshop delved into current issues, including local food production, food loss and waste, trade dynamics, and agricultural investment. Additionally, it explored risk management, emergency preparedness, and the role of research, development, and innovation in tackling these challenges.

Participants reviewed a proposed Gulf food security strategy, evaluating its vision, mission, and strategic objectives. The session also outlined a comprehensive roadmap for implementing the strategy, discussing future steps and stages to ensure effective execution. Strategic directions and governance structures for the food security initiative were also highlighted.
