New investment strategies on the horizon for wheat production in Oman

Muscat: The Directorate General of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in Al Dhahirah Governorate convened to explore expansion opportunities for the upcoming agricultural season. Led by Eng. Salem bin Ali Al Omrani, the Director General, the meeting brought together key stakeholders, including local wheat cultivation investors.

The discussion focused on ways to significantly increase wheat production and enhance collaboration between the Directorate and investors. With current wheat production in the governorate at 319 tons and wheat cultivated across 300 acres, the goal is to develop this sector to new heights, benefiting food security and investment returns.

The Directorate outlined its vision for improving wheat cultivation and presented various investment opportunities in the field. The meeting also reviewed the progress of existing wheat cultivation projects under the usufruct system and addressed challenges faced by investors. Solutions and proposals were discussed to overcome these hurdles and promote further growth.
