Oman Meteorology issues weather alert for the week

Oman Meteorology has released a detailed weather forecast covering the period from Monday, August 5 to Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

MUSCAT : As per the forecast for today, August 5, cloudy skies will prevail across most northern regions, with the possibility of cumulus cloud formation. Rainfall of varying intensity, including occasional thunderstorms, is anticipated over the Hajar Mountains, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, North and South Al Sharqiyah, Muscat, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, and South Al Batinah.

Active downward winds ranging from 15 to 30 knots may reduce horizontal visibility; sea conditions are expected to be rough, with waves reaching up to 4.0 meters on the Arabian Sea coast, and average waves between 1.5 and 2.0 meters on the Oman Sea coast.

Tuesday, August 6, 2024:

Cloud cover will persist with chances of cumulus clouds and varying intensity rainfall across northern governorates. Thunderstorms are possible over the Hajar Mountains and parts of Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, North and South Al Sharqiyah, Muscat, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, and South Al Batinah.
Active downward winds of 15 to 30 knots will continue to affect visibility and may lead to the scattering of unstable materials.

The Arabian Sea will experience rough waves up to 4.0 meters, while the Oman Sea will see average waves around 1.5 meters.

Wednesday, August 7, 2024:

There will be a continued chance of cumulonimbus cloud formation over the Hajar Mountains, neighboring areas, and parts of South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta governorates. Thunderstorms may also occur.

Active downward winds ranging from 15 to 30 knots are expected, which will reduce horizontal visibility. Rough waves of up to 4.0 meters are forecasted for the Arabian Sea, with moderate waves ranging from 1.25 to 1.5 meters on the Oman Sea coast.
