MUSCAT : This response comes following concerns from parents about how these delays are affecting students’ education.

In a statement issued to ‘The Arabian Stories’, the source explained that the board intervened when there was an undue delay from the vendor who was awarded the project to procure and supply text books to all Indian schools, for the second year in a row.

“The vendor cited logistical issues related to transportation of books from India from various sources. However, through consistent follow up, on an average more than 85% of books have now been delivered to the schools. The efforts are still on to ensure speedy delivery of 100% books to all schools at the earliest,” the source revealed.

The delay has, however, irked parents of students attending Indian schools in Oman, a few of who took on the onus of submitting a formal letter to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, highlighting the negative impact this issue is having on students’ academic performance and overall learning experience.
The letter outlined several challenges resulting from the textbook delays, including difficulties in completing assignments, inconsistencies in lesson delivery, and financial burden as parents are forced to resort to photocopying materials.

The letter, signed by Dr Saji Uthuppan, Jayanandan, Siju Thomas, Simon and Manoj Joseph, called for an immediate update on the status of textbook distribution, including a clear timeline with steps being taken to resolve the issue.

In April this year, Dr. Uthuppan, an academician and social worker, had first raised concerns about textbook delays in Indian schools in Oman, emphasizing the importance of timely textbook delivery for students’ educational success.
