Muscat: Raysut Industrial City is becoming a hotspot for investors, thanks to its prime location near Salalah Port and Airport, as well as the array of incentives and supportive facilities it offers. Eng. Abdul Qader bin Salem Al Balushi, Director General of Raysut Industrial City, highlighted the city’s efforts to secure additional expansions to accommodate growing investment demands.

In a statement to the Oman News Agency, Al Balushi announced a significant infrastructure improvement project set to launch before the end of the year. This project, costing up to RO 3 million, aims to enhance water and sanitation services in underdeveloped areas and upgrade existing services.

Eight investment projects were localized in Raysut Industrial City in the first half of 2024, with investments exceeding RO 43 million, pushing the total investment volume to over half a billion Omani riyals. The city’s diverse industries include food, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, plastics, furniture, cement, and gypsum products.

On the employment front, the city employs over 3,000 workers, 38 per cent of whom are Omanis. In collaboration with the Industrial Innovation Academy and the General Directorate of Labor in Dhofar Governorate, efforts are underway to create more job opportunities through training and direct employment initiatives.

This month, the first edition of a specialized training program in industrial innovation will launch. It targets 30 participants with innovative ideas in the food and beverage sector. This initiative is supported by private sector companies in cooperation with the Industrial Innovation Academy.

Hamed bin Ali Bait Saeed, Director of Investor Services at Raysut Industrial City, emphasized the city’s role as a regional hub for food and pharmaceutical industries. With 195 diverse projects and an occupancy rate of 98 per cent, the city is poised for further growth with upcoming expansions and new project localizations.

Because of its strategic location, most companies in Raysut Industrial City target export markets in the Horn of Africa, India, and Yemen.
