Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology has announced a significant rise in using electronic services and smart application licenses in the land transport sector. Since the debut of the “Naql” platform in 2020, more than 429,000 electronic transactions have been recorded, showcasing the platform’s pivotal role in modernizing transportation.

His Excellency Eng. Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shammakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry, detailed that the “Naql” platform now offers 15 electronic services covering various sectors, including taxi licenses, passenger transport by bus, and freight transport. The platform has issued licenses for seven taxi service applications, two bus passenger transport applications, five goods transport applications, and four land transport shelters to enhance safety and suitability away from residential areas.

Since its launch, the platform has registered over 490,000 land transportation means, both passenger and freight, with more than 12 million passengers transported via these registered services. However, the platform also recorded around 12,000 violations for unauthorized passenger transport and 8,000 violations for unauthorized goods transport by expats.
