Muscat: Starting Monday evening, August 5th, 2024, Oman will experience significant weather changes due to a low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea. The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center’s latest updates indicate widespread cloud cover and the likelihood of isolated rain and thunderstorms across most governorates.
The heaviest impacts are expected in South Al Batinah, North Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, and parts of Al Dhahirah, Al Buraimi, Al Wusta, North Al Sharqiyah, and Musandam. Cloud formation and potential thunderstorms are anticipated on Monday evening and Tuesday, especially in the Al Hajar Mountains and adjacent areas. Rainfall could reach between 25-50 mm, potentially causing wadies to flow.
Residents should prepare for fresh downdraft winds ranging from 15-35 knots (28-65 km/h), which may cause unstable objects to move and reduce visibility during thunderstorms. Additionally, rough sea conditions, with wave heights up to 4 meters, are expected along the Arabian Sea and Oman Sea coasts.

On Wednesday, August 7th, conditions will continue with isolated rain and thunderstorms over coastal areas and the Al Hajar Mountains. Rainfall of 20-40 mm could cause further wadi flow, and the same wind and sea conditions are expected.
