Muscat – According to the CPA, an advertisement can be considered misleading under the following circumstances:
• When the advertised price differs from the actual selling price of the product or service.
• Promoting goods or services with vague or unclear details to mislead consumers.
• Advertising products not licensed by relevant authorities, especially those that could cause harm.
• Making unrealistic or exaggerated promises about the product or service that do not correspond to its actual performance.
• When the terms of an agreement or contracting procedures differ from what is stated in the advertisement, such as neglecting after-sales service.
• Falsely claiming that a product or service meets certain specifications and standards without proper verification.
