MUSCAT : The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation has closed registration for its eleventh National Award for Scientific Research. This session saw an impressive surge in interest, with a total of 274 research papers submitted—an increase from previous years.
The submissions were divided across six key sectors: Health and Community Service (52 applications), Environment and Vital Resources (50 applications), Education and Human Resources (76 applications), Culture, Social, and Basic Sciences (43 applications), Energy and Industry (34 applications), and Communications and Information Systems (19 applications). Of these, 167 applications were from researchers with doctoral degrees, while 107 came from emerging researchers.
The National Award aims to foster high-quality scientific research and enhance research and scientific awareness among participants. By encouraging robust research with significant outcomes, the award contributes to the global standing of academic institutions and promotes excellence in scientific publishing.

The award will be presented in two categories: Best Published Scientific Research for doctorate holders and Best Published Scientific Research for emerging researchers. Winners will be announced and honoured at the annual researchers’ forum scheduled for December.
