Muscat: As the 2024 Dhofar Khareef season approaches, major upgrades are underway to revitalize tourist sites, improve road infrastructure, and enhance the region’s overall aesthetic.
His Excellency Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen Al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, highlighted the success of the 2023 Khareef season, which saw nearly one million visitors, marking an 18.4% increase from the previous year. The influx generated over RO 100 million in spending. For the 2024 season, His Excellency Dr Al Ghassani anticipates a 10-15% rise in visitor numbers and spending to exceed RO 115 million.
The development includes the rehabilitation of several new tourist sites such as “Return of the Past,” “Atten Square,” “Up Town,” and “Razath Boulevard.” These sites are set to open in two phases: initially for the Khareef season and later for extended periods throughout the year.
