MUSCAT : To improve passenger experience and operational efficiency, Oman Airports is implementing a new cut-off time for processing passengers through the Passenger Boarding System (PBS).
Effective from Sunday, August 4, 2024, all passengers on international flights will need to consider the extended processing time while checking in as the cut-off time will be extended from 20 minutes to 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
The decision comes after a comprehensive review of the passenger journey at the Muscat international Airport. The airport authorities determined that 40 minutes allows ample time for passengers to navigate from check-in counters to the furthest departure gates, ensuring a smooth boarding process and on-time departures.
In a circular addressed to all stakeholders, Oman Airport announced the new processing cut-off time. The airport authorities emphasized that this adjustment follows a detailed review of the passenger journey, aiming to optimize timelines from check-in to reaching the departure gates.
“This adjustment will ensure that passengers have sufficient time to complete all necessary pre-boarding procedures before boarding the aircraft,” the circular stated. The change aligns with airlines and ground handling companies’ commitment to close passenger check-in desks 60 minutes before departure.
Travelers are advised to arrive at the airport earlier to accommodate the new 40-minute processing window and also check with their airline for specific check-in deadlines and baggage allowance information.
