MUSCAT : Construction of the new fish market in Yanqul is nearing its final stages, with completion rates surpassing 90%. Supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and funded by the Oman Oil Development Company, the project will transform the region’s fish marketing landscape.

Covering 1,366 square meters, the new market will feature 24 fish-selling platforms, 12 fish-cutting tables, a wholesale hall, and an ice-making unit with a five-ton capacity. Additional amenities include a cold storage facility, a loading/unloading platform, administrative offices, a café, changing rooms, and modern facilities that align with contemporary market standards.

The market also plans to support local entrepreneurs by offering 1,300 square meters of investment space. This initiative encourages Omani business owners to establish new ventures within the fish sector, enhancing services for the community.

Strategically located on the main road to Sohar and Al Buraimi, the new market is poised to serve Yanqul and neighbouring villages, bolstering regional connectivity and economic growth.
