Muscat – The operation resulted in the recovery of 10 crew members, with nine found alive; one was deceased.
The Comorian-flagged MV Prestige Falcon, carrying 16 crew members including 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans, went down approximately 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah in the Wilayat of Duqm on the night of July 15.
This prompted an immediate and extensive response from various military, security, and civilian agencies.
Authorities have emphasized that the sunken vessel and any potential impacts on the marine environment will be thoroughly addressed.
The Maritime Security Centre expressed its gratitude to military and security agencies and civil authorities involved in the search and rescue operations, as well as to the Navy of the Republic of India for their invaluable assistance.
