Muscat – This advisory aims to mitigate the risks of fraud and phishing that travelers may encounter during their trips.
The Ministry recommends the following security tips to enhance online safety and safeguard personal information during travels:
- Avoid using ATMs located in open and crowded areas.
- Make your bookings through trusted websites.
- Avoid scanning unknown QR codes.
- Use safe and reliable Wi-Fi networks; avoid public wireless networks whenever possible.
- Refrain from using public computers in hotels or cafes to access sensitive accounts.
- Inform your bank of your travel plans so they can monitor your accounts for any unusual activity.
- Avoid posting details of your travel plans or current location on social media to protect yourself from scammers.
