‘Rummana’ event in Oman’s Jabal Akhdar attracts over 15,000 visitors

The second edition of ‘Rummana’ event in Al Jabal Al Akhdar has drawn more than 15,000 visitors since its opening on July 4.

MUSCAT : The volume of sales during this period has been estimated at over 500 kilograms of fruits and other products, sold through outlets managed by 10 small and medium enterprises.



Khalid bin Hamad AlAghbari, Head of the Field Work Team at the Agrotourism Development Company ‘Janaen’, stated that the ” Rummana’ event is a key initiative in promoting agricultural tourism in Al Jabal Al Akhdar. The event aims to foster a culture of environmentally friendly agricultural tourism and provide unique experiences to attract tourists, thereby enhancing local economic value.

“The ‘Rummana’ project is the first of its kind, offering an exceptional experience for visitors through various activities amidst pomegranate orchards,” Al Aghbari said. He highlighted that the event, named after the pomegranate fruit for which Al Jabal Al Akhdar is renowned, significantly boosts the area’s status as a premier tourist, cultural, and agricultural destination in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

The Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar is rich in natural resources, setting it apart from other regions. By leveraging these resources, the event aims to enhance the competitiveness of Oman’s agricultural and tourism sectors. This edition of ‘Rummana’ is particularly focused on enriching the agricultural tourism experience and supporting local farmers in marketing their products.

The event features a range of activities, including numerous restaurants and cafes, workshops, and cultural events aimed at children and families to promote the concept of tourism agriculture. It also includes a variety of children’s games and specialized corners for selling products from local families, including food and handicrafts.

The ‘Rummana’ event not only provides a unique visitor experience but also plays a pivotal role in supporting the local economy and promoting sustainable tourism in the region.
