One injured as police investigate illegal march, attacks on officers in Bahrain

The participants engaged in acts of rioting, vandalism, blocked public streets, and threw iron rods and stones at police officers.

MANAMA: A group of individuals who participated in an illegal march on public streets in the Bahrain village of Diraz and other areas were arrested, the country’s Director General of the Northern Governorate Police Directorate confirmed.

In a statement issued, Bahrain News Agency said the protesters advanced towards policemen, with an aim to obstruct them from performing their duties. They threw iron rods and stones at the officers, blocked streets, and engaged in vandalism, and rioting.

 “The participants in the gathering were warned about their violations of the law, but they did not comply. This necessitated action in accordance with legal protocols to protect property and individuals. As a result of the confrontation, one participant sustained injuries,” the statement said.
 
“Relevant authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident, including the police response, in accordance with established regulations and procedures,” the statement added.
