Muscat: Oman’s telecommunications landscape has seen notable growth, with mobile phone subscriptions climbing 3.1% to reach 7 million and 201.5 thousand by the end of March 2024. This increase marks a significant rise from 6 million and 842.8 thousand subscriptions in the same period last year.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority’s report highlights a corresponding 4.13% increase in mobile penetration among the population. Additionally, the average usage per subscription rose by 4.19%, and the average revenue per subscription grew by 1.77%.
In contrast, mobile broadband subscriptions experienced a slight decline of 1.41%, with a more substantial drop in average usage per subscription by 7.60% and average revenue per subscription decreasing by 1.56%.

The fixed-line telephone sector also saw positive developments, with subscriptions rising by 3.03% to total 596,809. However, the average usage per subscription dropped by 11.16%, and the average revenue per subscription fell by 5.98%.
Fixed broadband subscriptions increased by 1.86% to reach 572,450, though average usage per subscription decreased by 0.68%. The average revenue per subscription in this sector saw a modest increase of 0.87%.
International call metrics showed a 6.03% increase in outgoing minutes. However, the average revenue per minute on mobile phones and landline phones decreased by 7.76% and 10.32%, respectively.
