Muscat – Scattered rain, accompanied by thunder and active winds, is expected today, July 18, over the Hajar Mountains, desert areas, as well as Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates.
The warning, effective from 10 am to 8 pm today, covers Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, North Al Sharqiah, Al Wusta, and Dhofar governorates. Rainfall amounts could reach between 10-25 millimeters in these areas.
The CAA has cautioned residents about the potential for downdraft winds of up to 15-40 knots and flash floods. Poor horizontal visibility is also expected in affected areas.
The Authority has also reported low-level clouds and fog formation with intermittent drizzle and reduced visibility along coastal and mountainous areas of Dhofar governorate.
The general weather forecast for today indicates partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with drizzle in Dhofar, while clear skies with chances of isolated thunderstorms are expected in the Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas. Low-level clouds or fog patches may also occur along coastal areas of the Oman Sea and Arabian Sea.
