Muscat – In a public announcement, the Ministry urged tourists to choose licensed companies for adventure activities to ensure adherence to proper safety protocols.

“Dear Tourist, in order for the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism to ensure your safety while practicing adventure activities, it urges you to deal with companies organizing adventure tourism trips licensed by this Ministry in order to activate the principle of security and safety while practicing tourism adventures,” stated the Ministry announcement.

The Ministry also stated that it welcomes applications from companies and individuals interested in organizing adventure tourism trips. Applications are to be submitted electronically through the Ministry’s portal https://mht.gov.om/ and must comply with established safety and security requirements.
This announcement follows a previous one issued on May 8, 2023, which marked the start of accepting applications for adventure tourism licenses and specialized guides.
The Ministry indicated that it has identified unlicensed companies and individuals advertising adventure tours on social media and other platforms. This practice is a violation of Article 8 of the Tourism Law, which mandates a license from the Ministry for all tourism activities.
Penalties for non-compliance range from imprisonment for a minimum of 10 days to a maximum of 6 months, and/or fines between RO 6,000 and RO 50,000 Omani Riyals.
The Ministry encourages all interested parties to apply for proper licensing through the designated portal and prioritize safety standards in adventure tourism experiences.
