Muscat – Underscoring the importance of excellence and innovation in Islamic banking and endowment investment sectors in Oman, The Arabian Stories will present the prestigious Themar Islamic Banking Conference and Excellence Awards on September 29, 2024.

The inaugural edition of the conference will focus on ‘Islamic Financial Transactions and Economic Stability’.

Alongside the conference, the highly anticipated ‘Themar Islamic Banking Excellence Awards 2024’ will celebrate outstanding achievements in Sharia-compliant financial services.

A distinguished panel of judges, comprising experts, specialists, and prominent personalities from Oman’s national economy, will evaluate the nominations under the eight designated categories: Best Islamic Bank, Best Islamic Banking Window, Best Sharia-Compliant Investment, Best Takaful Financing and Insurance Companies, Best Islamic Banking Personality (CEO/General Manager), Digital Transformation, Sustainability, and Startups.

The jury panel will be headed by His Highness Dr. Adham Al Said, Assistant Professor at Sultan Qaboos University’s College of Economics and Political Science, and will include Dr. Siham Al Harthy, Chairman of Sama Real Estate Company and Board Member of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Ashraf Al Nabhan, former Chairman of the Muscat Securities Market, and Dr. Ahmed Kashoub, Chairman of the Index Center for Economic and Financial Consultations.

The awards aim to provide a transparent platform for financial institutions to showcase their sustainable development and innovation goals, contributing to the national economy. Participation in the awards is open to individuals and institutions offering Sharia-compliant investments or services, provided they have been operational for at least three years – investment and endowment funds/programs must be established for a minimum of two years.

While the awards aim to recognise the contributions of outstanding Islamic financial institutions and honor distinguished individuals in related sectors, the much-awaited Themar Islamic Banking Conference is expected to set a new benchmark in the sector with an agenda packed with interactive discussions and talks.

The conference will feature insightful discussions on various aspects of Islamic banking and endowment investment sectors, including operational risks, regulatory frameworks, monetary stability factors, and the role of digital transformation. It will also provide a platform to explore investment opportunities, governance principles, and future prospects for both sectors.
