Oman’s Foreign Minister discusses Gaza violence, ceasefire efforts with Hamas chief

H.E. Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a phone call on Saturday, July 13, from Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Political Bureau of the Hamas movement.

Muscat – The discussion centered on the recent aerial bombardment by Israeli occupation forces targeting unarmed civilians in Mawasi Camp in Khan Yunis and the Shati camp in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in numerous casualties, including women, children, and the elderly.

The two leaders also reviewed the ongoing negotiations aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement and facilitating the exchange of prisoners and detainees.  

His Excellency Albusaidi reaffirmed Oman’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, condemning the continuous Israeli violations and calling for immediate international intervention to protect civilians and provide essential humanitarian aid. He urged the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions and to end the violence against innocent civilians.

Ismail Haniyeh expressed his gratitude for Oman’s steadfast support and highlighted the importance of maintaining open communication and constructive dialogue. He emphasized the necessity of bolstering international efforts to implement resolutions supporting the Palestinian cause. Haniyeh also conveyed Hamas’s approval of the ceasefire proposal presented by the United States and acknowledged the constructive roles played by Qatar and Egypt in the negotiations.
