Muscat – The operation was initiated following a consumer report about the sale of these prohibited items to children in local markets.

Following the report, the CPA conducted an investigation and verified the information. Law enforcement officers tracked the vehicle used by the expatriate worker to distribute these banned toys to various shops in the governorate.

This activity was found to be in violation of the Consumer Protection Law, its executive regulations, and decisions, which prohibits the circulation of all types, shapes, and sizes of jelly and slime-based toys in Oman unless the producers can provide proof of obtaining necessary approvals from the relevant authorities.

The places of sale for these toys were identified, leading to the confiscation of 1,664 banned items from the worker and the shop. Arrangements have been made to destroy these prohibited goods. Additionally, an administrative fine of RO 500 was imposed on the violators, and further legal measures are being pursued.

The CPA emphasizes its ongoing commitment to monitoring the markets in the Sultanate of Oman to ensure they are free from commercial fraud and negative practices that undermine consumer rights and safety. The authority also calls on the public to cooperate by reporting any such practices to help maintain a healthy and safe market environment.
