Oil prices dip as Federal Reserve rate cut hopes rise

Oil futures took a hit on Friday as anticipation grows for a potential interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve in September.

Muscat: Oil futures ended lower on Friday amid increasing optimism that the Federal Reserve might cut interest rates in September. Brent crude futures fell by 37 cents to settle at $85.03 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures dropped 41 cents, or 0.5%, to $82.21 a barrel.

The decline marks a significant shift for Brent crude, which fell more than 1.7% after a four-week winning streak. Similarly, West Texas Intermediate crude futures posted a weekly decline of 1.1%.
