Muscat: The Muscat Stock Exchange has marked a significant milestone in the first half of the year by listing bonds and sukuk worth RO 362.4 million, enhancing the diversity of investment options available to traders and investors alike.

Among the listings are 36 bond issues, including 16 government development bonds and 13 sukuk issues, which adhere to Islamic finance principles. These listings include notable contributions such as the Government Development Bonds Issue No. 69 and Issue No. 70, each with substantial volumes to finance critical development projects.

The bonds and sukuk market also witnessed several significant listings, including free bonds issued by Omani International Development and Investment Company (Ominvest) and mandatory convertible bonds by Ahli Bank and Liva Group.

In the sukuk sector, MSX listed prominent issues such as the “Tilal” Sukuk and the third issue of the “Meethaq” Sukuk, further diversifying the market and attracting investors seeking Sharia-compliant investment avenues.

Despite challenges, including the cancellation of certain bond listings, the overall market value of bonds and sukuk stood at RO 4.355 billion by the end of June.
