Oman’s CPA meets key stakeholders of new Silal market

The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) held a joint meeting with relevant authorities, suppliers, and wholesale dealers at the Khazaen Central Market for Vegetables and Fruits – Silal.

MUSCAT : Chaired by Walid bin Ali Al Rawahi, Director General of the Directorate General of Consumer Services and Market Monitoring at the CPA, the meeting included representatives from the Ministry of Wealth, Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Royal Oman Police, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and various suppliers and wholesalers of vegetables and fruits.

The primary agenda of the meeting was to ensure the consistent availability of goods in the markets and to prevent any exploitation of market variables or effects. The attendees agreed on several mechanisms to guarantee the availability and price stability of vegetables and fruits across the Sultanate of Oman’s markets.

The discussion also focused on addressing the key challenges faced by government institutions, suppliers, and wholesalers, and devising necessary solutions to organize the sales movement in the market without exploiting the market’s operational period.

Additionally, the meeting underscored the importance of the Authority’s supervisory and regulatory role within the Silal Market to maintain fair practices and market stability.
