Oman, Brazil celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations

The Sultanate of Oman and the Federative Republic of Brazil have issued a joint statement on the occasion of 50 years of diplomatic relations

Muscat – The Foreign Ministry of Oman and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil are pleased to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to the joint statement, the bilateral bond was established on July 3, 1974. In 2009, Brazil opened its resident embassy in Muscat. In 2010, the Omani embassy was opened in Brasilia, the country’s first diplomatic mission in Latin America.

Relations between the two countries are characterized by a significant economic component, with a high level of reciprocal investments, especially in the mining sector, and significant trade flows, which was nearly 2 billion US$ in 2023.

Brazil and Oman share an interest in promoting a more prosperous and just international order, in which peace and the inclusive and sustainable development prevail.
