Royal Oman Police enhances readiness for Khareef Dhofar 2024

In preparation for the Khareef Dhofar 2024, the governorate’s Police Command, with support from various units of the Royal Oman Police (ROP), is implementing a number of security measures that are consistent with the nature of planned tourism events and activities.

MUSCAT : Brigadier Said bin Hamad Al Balushi, Commander of Dhofar Governorate Police, emphasized ROP’s commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors. “We are enhancing police presence across all tourist sites in the governorate and ensuring high-quality services,” he stated.

Preparations have included multiple meetings and field visits by relevant ROP committees to assess security and traffic needs during the autumn season. Special protocols have been put in place to manage the anticipated influx of tourists, coordinated with other government agencies to maintain visitor safety and facilitate traffic flow to event and tourist sites.

“In collaboration with authorities, we are deploying safety standards in high-risk areas, ensuring the validity of electrical equipment, and enforcing regulations to enhance visitor safety,” Brigadier Al Balushi added.

Police presence along roads leading to Dhofar Governorate will be reinforced to assist road users in emergencies. Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority teams, and Coast Guard Police patrols will be stationed at beaches and water springs to handle emergencies promptly. Mounted police patrols will also monitor beaches and remote tourist sites.

Brigadier Balushi urged drivers to adhere strictly to traffic rules, conduct vehicle checks before travel, maintain safe speeds, avoid prohibited overtaking, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and refrain from using mobile phones while driving.
