MUSCAT : Eng. Al Yaqzan bin Abdullah Al Harthy, Director General of the OAAM, said that the museum’s joining the International Council of Museums (ICOM) will contribute to linking the OAAM with museums and cultural centers around the world, and will help workers in holding international meetings and preparing research and studies specialized in the museum field.
He added that joining the International Council of Museums will also raise the efficiency of workers and highlight their efforts in the museum field by enhancing means of cooperation to hold many international forums and benefit from the specialized courses, conferences and workshops in museum sciences provided by the Council.
The ICOM is a non-governmental organization dedicated to museums. It sets professional and ethical standards for museum activities. The Council also makes recommendations on issues related to cultural heritage and raises general cultural awareness.
