CDAA issues safety guidelines for mountain hikers in Oman

The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) has issued important safety guidelines for individuals engaging in mountain hiking and related activities.

Muscat – With Oman’s stunning landscapes, charming nature, and high mountains attracting many hikers, the authority emphasizes the need for caution to avoid accidents and injuries.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority advises hikers to adhere to the following safety instructions:
Safety Procedures:

  • Choose the right trail for your fitness level.
  • Familiarize yourself with the trail.
  • Inform your relatives of your route and location.
  • Wear the right shoes and socks.
  • Check the weather.
    Important Requirements:
  • Emergency shelter (Carry a tent for unexpected situations).
  • Illumination (headlamp/flashlight).
  • Extra clothing, nutrition and water.
  • Carry matches, a lighter and candle.
  • Use sun protection.
  • Navigation systems (have a map and compass).
  • First-aid supplies.
