Muscat – This practice poses significant risks to the security and safety of neighborhoods and compromises public health. Residents are urged to report such violations through the Contact Centre (1111) to ensure prompt legal action.

In a statement issued online, the municipality stated: “Using residential buildings as warehouses for food items or commercial and industrial goods without permission violates public safety regulations and health requirements.”

The municipality lists the adverse effects of using residential buildings for goods storage as follows:
• Safety risks to residents due to the threat of fires
• Health hazards and the spread of insects and rodents
• Disruption of traffic flow due to the transport and loading of goods
• Accumulation of waste and garbage
