Muscat – The launch event was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health.
The launch event highlighted the importance of sterilization services for protecting patients in healthcare facilities. Dr. Amal bint Saif Al Maani, Director General of the Disease Surveillance and Control, delivered a speech reviewing the significance of sterilization and the process of forming the Ministry’s sterilization program.


Dr. Abdullah bin Salem Al Quyoudi, Director of the Infection Prevention and Control Department, gave a visual presentation on the development of sterilization services in Oman and the Ministry’s efforts to raise the quality of services and patient safety. He highlighted achievements such as the launch of a sterilization technician diploma program and the issuance of the National Guide.
Shamsa bint Salem Al Rahbiyah, Head of the Sterilization Services Department, showcased an innovative tool – an interactive presentation using artificial intelligence featuring a virtual character named ‘Waqa’ – developed to aid research in the national directory for medical and surgical sterilization.
The event also included presentations on the history of sterilization in Oman, its advancements, and the Ministry’s commitment to training healthcare workers in accordance with the latest international standards. This comprehensive approach aims to improve healthcare delivery and prevent the spread of infections within healthcare institutions.
