Muscat – The business and incubator center at the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate produced a harvest of over 20 tons of roses, a 9-ton increase compared to the previous season, with an estimated value of RO 200,000.

Issam bin Saif Al Zakwani, a senior executive at the center, highlighted the versatility of Jabal Akhdar rose water. Beyond its traditional uses, it is increasingly incorporated into food and beverage flavorings, and even finds new applications in the cosmetics industry, including creams, soaps, and other fragrant products.

He further emphasized the role played by the SME Development Authority in supporting local artisans and entrepreneurs. The center offers training workshops covering various skill sets, such as rose water and essential oil production, as well as entrepreneurship skills. This empowers local businesses and project owners to launch successful ventures, contributing to the growth of the craft and entrepreneurial sectors within Al Jabal Al Akhdar.

It is worth noting that the business and incubator center in Jabal Akhdar includes a number of departments. It features a dedicated training hall for distilling aromatic plants and producing essential oils, a department focused on training entrepreneurs and craftspeople, and the Omani crafts house, which showcases products from the center and local artisans, including essential oils, aromatics, textiles, pottery, and silverware. Additionally, the center maintains a rose farm with over 2,700 trees of various varieties. In collaboration with relevant stakeholders, the center actively seeks business opportunities aligned with current trends, aiming to stimulate both the local and international economies.
