Muscat: Singapore Airlines has taken swift action following the turbulent ordeal experienced by passengers aboard flight SQ321, which encountered extreme turbulence over Myanmar on 20 May. Amid the chaos that led to the tragic death of a 73-year-old British man and left 104 others injured, the airline is extending compensation and support to those affected.

The compensation offer of $10,000 has been extended to passengers who suffered minor injuries during the incident. Additionally, the airline is engaging in discussions with passengers who have sustained more serious injuries to tailor compensation to their needs. For passengers requiring long-term medical care, an advance payment of $25,000 has been offered to address immediate financial concerns.

The aftermath of the turbulence saw 12 passengers remaining hospitalized in Bangkok, with injuries ranging from skull, brain, and spinal injuries to more severe cases where individuals experienced loss of sensation from the waist down. Singapore Airlines has been covering medical expenses and providing support to affected passengers and their families during this challenging time.

Passengers who were not injured will also receive refunds for their tickets, as well as compensation for any delays incurred under regulatory schemes.
