Muscat – H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a session of political discussions with H.E. Mohammed Salem Ould Marzouk, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, in the Mauritanian capital yesterday.

During the meeting, the ministers discussed the current state of cooperation between the two countries and identified key areas for further development that would bring mutual benefits to both nations. A primary focus was on enhancing trade and investment partnerships, particularly involving private sector institutions, and exploring opportunities in promising sectors such as marine fishing, mining, energy, agriculture, logistical connectivity between the ports of both countries, and tourism.

In addition to economic collaboration, the ministers exchanged views on several regional and international issues of mutual concern. They reaffirmed their support for efforts aimed at promoting security, stability, and peace across the region and globally.

A significant portion of the discussions centered on the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Both ministers emphasized the importance of international efforts to halt the Israeli aggressive war on the Gaza Strip. They called for an agreement to ensure a ceasefire, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, release all detainees on both sides, and allow displaced Palestinians to return to their homes. The ministers underscored the necessity of adhering to international law and advancing efforts to hold an international peace conference to implement a two-state solution and end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
