Muscat: Muscat Municipality highlighted the critical role of municipal oversight in maintaining health standards at men’s barbershops. The campaign encourages patrons to prioritize their health by being aware of hygiene practices before starting any barbering service.

Customers are advised to observe the service workers’ uniforms and their commitment to hand sterilization. Using personal or single-use tools is strongly recommended to avoid transmitting infectious viral blood diseases, fungal infections, and other skin ailments.

Proper sterilization of tools, such as scissors and clippers, is crucial. The authorities warned against the practice of facial hair removal using threads, particularly when involving the mouth, due to the significant health risks posed.

To enforce these standards, strict penalties are in place for non-compliance. Barbershops found without a sterilization device face a fine of RO 50, while failure to adhere to health requirements can result in a fine of RO 70.
