Oman’s CPA Chairman meets Musandam Governor to address market challenges

Muscat – The CPA Chairman met with H.E. Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, to discuss consumer protection efforts and collaborate on solutions for market challenges.

The visit included discussions on the key challenges facing consumers and markets in the governorate. The Chairman and the Governor explored ways to improve consumer protection through collaborative efforts with various institutions. They emphasized the importance of raising public awareness, addressing complaints promptly, and combating commercial fraud and counterfeiting.

During the meeting, H.E. Al Hakmani presented an overview of the Authority’s powers and initiatives, highlighting the decentralization efforts aimed at accelerating development processes. The presentation also covered awareness campaigns and the significant statistical indicators of the Authority’s efforts in 2023.

H.E. Al Hakmani stressed the need for integration between the governor’s offices and the Consumer Protection Authority to effectively tackle consumer and market challenges.

As part of the visit, the CPA Chairman conducted a field tour of the markets in Musandam Governorate. He interacted with consumers and suppliers, listened to their concerns, and discussed solutions to the challenges they face. He assured them that the Authority is committed to overcoming these challenges and finding appropriate solutions.

He also visited the headquarters of the Consumer Protection Department in Khasab, and praised the efforts of the employees in providing services to consumers and monitoring the markets.

As part of the visit, he reviewed the department’s work progress and the mechanisms in place for verifying and addressing consumer reports. He emphasized the importance of ensuring consumer protection in accordance with the Authority’s powers and encouraged continued efforts to improve the level of service.
